Onsite Energy Evaluation (Energy Audit)

Building Science and data is at the heart of our decision making process. For every home comfort project we perform an energy audit to assess the state of building. Our energy auditor spends almost 2 hrs at job site to conduct a basement-to-attic assessment and take note of building envelope(walls, roof, door, windows, insulation etc.) and existing HVAC system. Blower door test is performed to determine the level of air leakage and, it also help to find the areas of air infiltration. This data also helps to identify the most cost effective pathway (a pathway encompasses one or more upgrades) to achieve desired level of comfort and energy efficiency.

Energy Modelling & Analysis

A computer simulation model is built, to access the energy performance of house and impact of various factors interacting simultaneously. The energy model has inputs for building geometry, building enclosure, location, HVAC equipments, lighting, base (fixed) loads, and building occupants. The simulation helps us to gauze the energy performance of building and identify the key parameters that impact the overall energy consumption. The energy modelling is based on house-as-a-system approach and takes into account the impact of variation in one component, on other components. (For example increasing the air tightness of house reduces the size of furnace or heat pump but may require mechanical ventilation.) 

Our aesthetically beautiful and scientifically consistent reports present the complex information into easy to understand graphics. The order of energy upgrades is based on their cost-benefit analysis and homeowner’s priorities. The costs, applicable incentives and most attractive financial options are also detailed in the “Jade Deep Energy Retrofits Report”(JaDERR).
